What is TempQueen?
TempQueen is Queen Mandibular Pheromone (QMP) contained in a small plastic tube. When placed in a queenless hive, it mimics the presence of a queen, helping to regulate the behaviour of worker bees and prevent the development of laying workers. Before using TempQueen, ensure the hive has no queen cells, no eggs, and no young larvae. TempQueen will last up to three weeks in a hive.
When to use TempQueen?
• While waiting for a new queen: If your hive is queenless, especially in early spring, you may need to wait for your ordered queen to arrive. If queens are available this early in the season, it’s worth questioning their origin, as they may not be UK-bred.
• When moving queenless packages of bees: The TempQueen helps calm the bees during transport, and they will arrive in good shape at the destination.
• As a lure: Use TempQueen to encourage bees to move out of unwanted locations like chimneys or under floorboards.
Why buy TempQueen now?
TempQueen lasts for up to three years, so it's a good idea to keep some on hand and ready to use when needed. Since it must be stored in the freezer, we recommend ordering before the weather gets too hot to ensure it stays cool during transit.
